Working Gundog Association of Australia (WGAA)
The Working Gundog Association of Australia (SSAA) is devoted to the breeding,
training, promotion and trialling of working gundogs.
The association provides training and trialling opportunities for all breeds
of gundogs – retrievers, spaniels, the hunt, point and retrieve breeds
and pointers and setters. Monthly training days are conducted for all
breeds in the Melton district on the 3rd Sunday of every month.
The association maintains a breed register and SSAA authorised registration
papers are issued as a sign of breed purity. Non pedigreed dogs are registered
on an Associate register and may compete in WGAA events.
Most members of WGAA are keen hunters and their dogs are used in the field
as hunting companions. WGAA also conducts trials under the SSAA National
Discipline system, and titles that are recognised nationally as a mark
of achievement and excellence are awarded. WGAA is accredited with the
Victorian Government as an organisation able to conduct field trials during
open game seasons in Victoria.
Annual membership: $20.00
