The On Target Program

I would like to introduce you to this new program that will hopefully assist you to maximise the potential of your club and its people.

The "On Target Program" is designed to be a self paced program that you, the club, determine what needs to be done and how many areas you target. We will be more than happy if your club works on 1 area per year, if that is all you can manage as we are well aware of the lack of volunteers in our organisations to undertake these types of issues. Perhaps that could be one of your first areas to target. Over time your club will work its way through the program and you will start seeing the difference to your clubs operations.

The On Target Program provides you with a wide range of information that will help to strengthen and enhance your club, increase participation, and develop a club culture that is safe, welcoming and family-friendly. The On Target Program also helps to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your club. In undertaking this program you may find that your club is already On Target and have in place some of the strategies suggested.

As a final note we would like to remind all groups undertaking this program, or thinking about doing so, that the SSAA (Vic) State Office and members of the State Executive Council are here to help you. If at any time throughout this process you need any advice or help you should contact the State Office. Assistance can be provided to help you understand the process of implementing the On Target Program, to help you complete your Club Audit, provide feedback on strategies to assist you, assist in the development or review of Action Plans or to simply discuss issues that your club is facing. We are here to help you and want to see the On Target Program become a successful tool to develop shooting clubs in Victoria, and hopefully around Australia.

If you are interested in participating or want to know more about the On Target program, contact the state office on (03) 8892 2777.

This project has been made possible through the assistance SSAA (Vic) has received from VicHealth and we would like to thank them for their commitment to sport through their funding programs. No doubt the benefits of their involvement will be a healthier and more vibrant community.
