A good outcome on LRD conditions

A good outcome on LRD conditions

In an ongoing commitment to reducing regulatory burden and improving services for the firearms industry, Victoria Police’s Licensing and Regulation Division (LRD) has committed to removing two reporting requirement conditions for approved hunting clubs and organisations.

Approved hunting clubs and organisations will no longer be required to provide written advice to the Chief Commissioner regarding those members who cease financial membership or written advice regarding decisions to accept or refuse new memberships.

SSAA Victoria first became aware of the issue in October 2016 and has been in discussions with LRD since that time.

The decision to remove the conditions has been achieved through consultation and mutual consensus with LRD, SSAA Victoria, Field and Game Australia and the Australian Deer Association. We consider this outcome a win for everyone, especially our members.

Members should be aware that SSAA Victoria never reported lapsed, refused or accepted members to LRD.
