SSAA Victoria has developed the Practical Firearms Training Program (PFTP): Centrefire Course to help develop shooting skills for people who have acquired their firearms licence, purchased a centrefire rifle, and wish to improve their skills.
To be held at either SSAA Victoria’s Little River, Wodonga, Warrnambool, East Gippsland (Buchan South), and Mildura ranges, the PFTP: Centrefire Course is designed to instill best practice and essential knowledge for new or intermediate centrefire users.
The course is also designed to give shooters a better understanding of their firearm and covers fundamental skills such as sighting-in a rifle (which is essential before hunting).
Topics covered in the PFTP: Centrefire Course include:
- Firearm safety
- Grouping and ballistics.
- Boresighting and sighting-in.
- Shooting procedures and techniques.
- Marksmanship.
- Firearm maintenance.
