This one-day practical course is designed to help you understand the most relevant hunting equipment, improve your shooting skills and provide proven hunting strategies and techniques.

You’ll receive practical instruction and tuition from leading Industry representatives, including hands-on target shooting to practice your skills and become a better gamebird hunter.

The Introduction to Victorian Gamebird hunting course is part of the Shotgunning Education Program and is delivered by the Sporting Shooters Association Australia (Victoria) and supported by the Game Management Authority (GMA).

Module 1 – An introduction to Game Bird Hunting (What, When, Where & How)

What To Bring

All trainers and trainees must bring the following.:

  • Current Firearms License
  • Safety Gear including – Ear and Eye protection, Sunscreen
  • Typical shotgun used for hunting ducks with non-toxic shot. This excludes Damascus twist barrelled shotguns and muzzle-loading shotguns. All firearms must be legally registered and in good working order. All firearms must have carrying slings removed.
  • All firearm maintenance equipment, including choke tubes and spanner.
  • Hunting/Target shooting jacket, ammunition/game bag or cartridge belt.
  • Suitable clothing and footwear for all weather conditions.
  • Receipt of course payment and ticket.
  • As this event will not be catered, all participants must bring all of their own food and drink. Bruno’s Café will be open from 9am – 5pm.

Cost:

SSAA members receive a discount on the course fee as another membership benefit.

  • Adults:                                    $330 for non-members and 20% discount for members
