The Hog deer ballot for the 2017 season is now open. Hunters have until November 30 to apply for the ballot, which generally covers Blond Bay State Game Reserve and sections of the Boole Poole Peninsula.
The Hog deer ballot provides hunters one of the best opportunities to harvest a Hog deer and the price to enter is just $15 per person.
Furthermore, this year’s ballot will be particularly special for hunters as Snake Island, off Port Welshpool, will also be available to hunters drawn from the ballot.
The season will run from February 2017 to June 2017. The Blond Bay Hog Deer Advisory Group will select a limited number of people to hunt during that period, and specify the sex and number of deer to be harvested by the successful hunters.
The ballot will be drawn on December 10 at the Christmas meeting of the Upper Goulburn Branch of the Australian Deer Association in Alexandra, Victoria.
Anyone who entered the ballot draw prior to the Government’s announcement about Snake Island is automatically included in the Snake Island draw.
