New Zealand Environment Minister promotes recreational hunting on World Environment Day

New Zealand’s Environment Minister Kiri Allan has given a major shout-out to recreational hunters on World Environment Day

In a Facebook post, Minister Allan shared her cooking tips for ‘wild venny’ before praising the conservation work undertaken by recreational hunters.

“The guys that hunt these animals take their biodiversity role really seriously, trapping constantly in their area, actively managing herd numbers, undertaking riparian planting and planting out thousands of native plants in the Raukumara, doing epic work for conservation and our environment.”

Recreational hunters in Victoria take around 200,000 wild deer a year and contribute $356million and 3,138 jobs to the Victorian economy.
