Victoria’s Game Management Authority has released the second in a series of the new YouTube videos to help educate hunters as a part of the ‘Reduce Wounding’ campaign.
Once again, SSAA Victoria’s Daryl Snowdon provided expert advice to the GMA and features in the new video. Much of the video was shot (no pun intended) at SSAA Victoria’s Eagle Park facility.
Developing and maintaining proficient shooting skills is a fundamental part of being a responsible and effective gamebird hunter. Poor shooting skills are considered the number one cause of wounding.
The best way to develop and maintain good shooting skills is through regular and meaningful clay target shooting practice. Get an experienced hunter or shooting trainer to give you expert advice on your stance and gun mount. Regularly practise on a variety of clay targets, but importantly, focus on ones that present like common duck hunting angles, especially incoming and left to right and right to left crossing shots.
