Remain strong on Adler fight

In just two days the Prime Minister and state and territory leaders are expected to finalise the National Firearms Agreement technical review.

Friday’s Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting in Canberra may see the end of more than 18 months of firearms-related misinformation being spread throughout the media, stonewalling by politicians and regulators and deceit by the anti-gun lobby. But it may also see the ludicrous re-categorisation of some lever-action firearms.

Over the weekend leaks to media revealed that the NSW Government agreed to moving the seven-shot Adler A110 lever-action shotgun to category D. It would mean only professional shooters working on government contracts or government employees could legally own the firearms.

While some media outlets are suggesting it’s a “done deal”, politics is fluid and ever changing. In other words, sporting shooters and hunters cannot roll over and accept this. They must continue to fight.

What can YOU do?

The first step is to arm yourself with knowledge. Reading the following stories is a great place to start:

Next, vote in the polls contained in the second and third articles above and encourage your friends and family to do the same. It will ensure the media knows that the majority of its readers think the Adler debate is ridiculous.

Finally, contact your local member and/or Victorian Police Minister Lisa Neville and let them know that they have a responsibility to base their decisions on facts and evidence, not emotional rhetoric. Remind them that they were put in charge to represent the voting public and not pander to the anti-gun lobby or the agendas of bureaucrats. The best way to get in touch with them at this stage is to call their offices or write emails.
