Record investment in training will help set Victoria’s shooting sports up to be the masters of our own destiny as we move into the future. In a significant development, SSAA Victoria is now accredited as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority (VRQA).
Formal, accredited training is increasingly important in Australian society. Nearly 4.5 million Australians undertook work-related training in 2021, and just under 2 million undertook personal interest learning. By establishing an RTO, SSAA Victoria can ensure that occupational and recreational shooting training is conducted by shooters and in the best interests of shooters.
SSAA Victoria’s range network provides critical infrastructure for several occupational training courses that support Victorians in industries as diverse as game harvesting, animal control and security.
Pathways into the shooting sports have changed. Traditionally, new shooters were introduced to the sport by family or friends and learnt under their supervision. The Association has now identified that many new shooters do not have anyone already involved in shooting to teach them the basics.
The Association offers a range of non-occupational training programs for new and old members alike, such as our innovative Practical Firearms Training Program and the Gamebird Hunting Essentials Masterclass.
SSAA Victoria’s RTO status allows members and industry to obtain nationally recognised qualifications and guarantees that the Association’s training meets the highest standards.
Members interested in the wide range of training already on offer through SSAA Victoria can go to the training page on the Association’s website.
