Incoming Premier Ben Carroll is well known to SSAA Victoria and the broader shooting community. As Parliamentary Secretary for Justice between 2014 and 2017, he chaired the Victorian Firearm Consultative Committee and has maintained a constructive relationship with our sector ever since.
We congratulate Mr Carroll on his appointment and look forward to continuing to work with him and his Government to build on this record of evidence-based policy, genuine consultation and recognition of the significant contribution that Victoria’s responsible shooting and hunting community makes to Victoria socially, economically and environmentally.
We will watch with interest the composition of the new Ministry and the allocation of portfolios in the days ahead. Strong relationships across Government have delivered positive outcomes over recent years, and SSAA Victoria looks forward to consolidating equally constructive relationships with new and returning Ministers.
With the Victorian election now only months away, we will continue to work with the incoming Premier, his Government and all political parties to advance practical, evidence-based policies that support responsible shooting and hunting, improve public land access, strengthen regional communities and deliver better conservation outcomes for Victoria.
