SSAA Victoria prepared a submission to the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council’s (VEAC) Central West Investigation.
The purpose of the investigation is to identify and evaluate various facets of public land and then make recommendations for appropriate management of that land.
The SSAA Victoria submission calls for increased hunting opportunities and a block on the creation of national parks. It also points out the vital importance of state forests for hunting and other recreational pursuits.
The Association argues that state forest classification is appropriate and all land currently designated as state forest should remain so.
This is the first stage of the VEAC investigation. SSAA Victoria will have the opportunity to respond to the draft recommendations when they are released.
