Gamebird Hunters: Time to hit the books

Gamebird Hunters: Time to hit the books

If you’re planning to hunt ducks or quail this season, now is the time to complete your mandatory education modules.

New gamebird hunters are required to complete a series of online modules before a game licence can be issued for duck or quail hunting. These include Hunting Essentials, Duck Hunting Basics, and Quail and Introduced Gamebirds. The modules are designed to provide hunters with the knowledge and skills they need to hunt legally, ethically, and responsibly.

For existing licence holders, the requirement also applies, but only once. If you already have a game licence endorsed for ducks or quail, you’ll need to complete the relevant modules when your licence comes up for renewal. There’s no cost involved, but the modules take several hours to complete in full, so it’s wise to get in early and avoid a last-minute rush.

The modules can be completed through the MyGL portal, and the process is relatively straightforward. Most hunters should be able to work through the material without difficulty, but it is essential that the modules are completed through MyGL to ensure your results are properly recorded against your game licence.

For those who may face technical challenges, help is on the way. The Association has been advised that a dedicated support line will be available in the new year to assist hunters with navigating the online system. More information will be provided by GMA in the coming months.

In the meantime, the best advice is simple: don’t delay. Log into MyGL and get your modules done now…before the next season catches up with you.
